It comes with a pole but a stick or trek pole is lighter. Weighs a little less than pending on how many stakes you bring I did a lot of research on the topic last year.Knowing a lot of people in the industry that work for Kelty, Golite and Mountain Hardware I ended up getting my hands on the 2008 test model of the Sierra Designs Origami 2 Ultralight. I agree that the tipi shape rigs are excellent for staying up when the wind pipes up and are hard to beat for space-weight and bulk. I'm not posting this to bash your choice of shelter or support mine, it's my 2 cents and I hope others will post their reviews. To close or open the zipper requires reaching out to the edge of the shelter where headroom is nil and condensation (for me) is prevalent. I know that helps eliminate condensation but when the wind is blowing and it's cold for me it was a bad feature (maybe I didn't set mine up right?) The other issue I have with a lot of the single pole sil shelters is the door vs the sloping wall the door is installed in. I didn't care for the fact that as designed it can't be sealed tight against the ground. ![]() ![]() ![]() I really like the sil-nylon Go-lite uses, it's a touch heavier than some of the others but it feels more robust and is much easier to shake the water off of than a similar product from Integral Designs. ACC elkhunter, That's one of the shelters I tried, I guess everyones mileage is different but I thought the Hex 3 fell short in a couple of areas.
